knock upside down

Built it up and turn it all around!

As knock downs are normally made to cut cost and maximize the profit this project shows, that a lot of core functions are as well really helpful and useful for a social object. This emergency-standard-bed can be used in any case of a catastrophe with the extra value of creating private space.

This object can be easily assembled, its very compact and broken parts could be effortlessly  exchanged. By the use of 4 different kinds of „clever“ connections the user avoids the loss of small parts or screws. As the fabrics can be washed and cleaned without any problem the product also allows a hygienic use of the bed. The compact design allows a money saving production and transport. For this reason „knock upside down“ will end up to be a cheap standard bed which can be afforded by NGO‘s or other organizations.

The core aspect of this project was to design an object which really NEED to be assembled as well as having the necessity to save costs at the production and space at the transportation of a non capitalistic point of view. Another very aspect of this project was to create a private space around the bed in order to guarantee better recovery of the catastrophes and crisis the users have been through.
